Willowbank Wildlife Reserve Leads the Flock

Christchurch is about to get a whole lot more baa-rilliant.

Hot on the hooves of the Big Sheep Trail launch recently, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Christchurch is delighted to announce Willowbank Wildlife Reserve as the official Presenting Partner, shepherding the Flock for this free, fun, city-wide adventure.

With shared values around connection, care, and helping tamariki and rangatahi thrive, Willowbank is the perfect partner to help bring the trail to life across Ōtautahi-Christchurch.

Faye Higgins, Manager of Big Brothers Big Sisters Christchurch, says this is just the beginning.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Willowbank on board as our Presenting Partner. They bring such a strong sense of community and care, which aligns beautifully with the impact mentoring has on our tamariki and rangatahi.

Willowbank have long been a place where tamariki and whānau come to connect with nature, learn, and feel inspired. That’s exactly what mentoring does too. It nurtures confidence, sparks curiosity, and helps young people thrive.”

Set to take over Christchurch in mid-January 2027, the Big Sheep Trail will feature a vibrant flock of artist-designed sheep sculptures popping up across the city, inviting people to explore, connect, and share in something a little bit special.

But don’t be sheepish… there’s still room to join the flock.

“We’re now inviting businesses and organisations to come on board,” says Higgins. “This is a chance to be part of something truly ewe-nique that brings the community together while backing life-changing mentoring relationships. Every sponsor helps grow more confident, connected young people.”
